Terms of Service & Privacy Summary

Last updated: 2026-02-23

HearHere is a voice-first platform for people to connect using recorded speech and time-indexed emoji reactions. These Terms describe the rules for using our services and how we handle your information.

Quick links

1) Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using HearHere (the “Services”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice (for example, in-app or by posting an updated date). Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

2) Accounts, eligibility, and acceptable use

You may need an account to access some features. You are responsible for safeguarding your account and for activity under your account.

Age. The Services are not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the Services. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us at support@hearhere.io.

Acceptable use. You agree not to misuse the Services. This includes:

  • No unlawful, harmful, or abusive content or behavior.
  • No attempts to access accounts or data you do not own or have permission to access.
  • No interference with the Services (e.g., scraping at scale, probing, denial-of-service).
  • No uploading malware or attempting to exploit vulnerabilities.
  • Respect others’ privacy and the intended audience of each conversation.
3) User content, permissions, and moderation

“User Content” includes audio you upload, transcripts derived from that audio, emoji reactions, titles, topic metadata, and any other content you provide.

You own your User Content (subject to applicable law and any rights of others). You give us a limited license to host, store, process, and display your User Content solely to operate and improve the Services (for example: storing audio in our infrastructure, generating transcripts, and showing the content to permitted participants).

Moderation and safety. We may remove content, restrict access, or suspend accounts if we reasonably believe content or behavior violates these Terms or poses risk to users or the Service.

4) Location data for recordings

If you choose to include location data with an upload, we store that location data with the recording you sent. We do not require location data to use HearHere, and we treat it as optional. However, if you choose to provide it, we may disclose it to others who have access to that upload.

Controls to clear location independently are planned but not yet implemented. If you need location removed from an upload before those controls exist, email support@hearhere.io and include the speech ID.

5) Deleting uploads and account content

Users can delete their uploaded recordings. Users cannot delete uploaded recordings from any other user. Deletion can require some time to propagate through storage systems and backups. We will make reasonable efforts to delete within a practical operational window. Deletion is considered permanent. Do not delete content you wish to retain.

If you cannot delete something through the product UI, email support@hearhere.io for support.

6) Privacy summary (what we collect, how we use it)

We collect and use information to provide the Services. Depending on how you use HearHere, this may include:

  • Account information (e.g., identity provider identifiers, display name) needed to log in and use the app.
  • Audio recordings you upload and associated derived transcripts.
  • Emoji reactions and related interaction metadata.
  • Optional metadata you provide (e.g., speech title, priority, topic, location for an upload).
  • Operational and security logs (e.g., basic device/browser signals and request logs).

We use this information to: operate the Service, enable conversations between permitted participants, deliver features like transcription and playback, maintain reliability and security, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information. (If this ever changes, we will update these Terms and provide required notices.)

Infrastructure provider. We host the Service on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Audio files, transcripts, reactions, and related account data are stored in AWS-managed infrastructure under our control. We do not share your data with third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data brokers. Any data processed by AWS is processed solely to provide hosting, storage, networking, and related infrastructure necessary to operate the Service.

7) Security and breach notice

We implement and maintain reasonable safeguards designed to protect the security, confidentiality, and integrity of private information, consistent with applicable New York requirements (see the New York SHIELD Act).

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we become aware of a security incident involving private information, we will take reasonable steps to investigate and, where required, provide notice. As of this writing we are not aware of any security incidents within our ecosystem.

8) Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not make warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, except to the extent such warranties cannot be disclaimed under applicable law.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid to use the Services in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim (or $1 if you paid nothing), unless applicable law requires otherwise. We will comply with all lawfully issued subpoenas in the event that we someday receive one.

10) Governing law and venue
